New Academic Year

The new academic year 2018-19 commences at Wingfield Academy on Monday 9th July when our timetable for 2018-19 will be introduced to students. This is also the date when Y6 students from our primary partner schools join us for the first time to begin their secondary school education.

Monday 9th July will be a day of change and a fresh start for all; a day when students will meet their tutors; be allocated new teaching groups and meet their subject teachers who will provide them with their targets and new learning challenges for the forthcoming year. For this reason the start
to Monday 9th July will be staggered to ensure all students can be welcomed and settled efficiently.

The Academy will open to students in years 8, 9, 10 and 11 at 10:15 am. By 10:25am they should be with tutors where they will receive their new timetables. Where older students are accompanying younger siblings in Y7, or where parents wish their child to be in at the normal time for childcare reasons – the Griffin (dining area) will be supervised and made available for their use.

We are looking forward to the new academic year and the opportunity for staff to begin the delivery of new courses, before the summer break. This will provide the opportunity for all students to reflect on their learning and progress of the past year and to set themselves new and ambitious goals
for 2018-19.

We very much look forward to welcoming your child to Wingfield Academy and working in true partnership to help your child meet their full potential.

Please note that term ends on Friday 20th July and students will be dismissed from 1:30pm.

If you have any queries regarding the above please do not hesitate to contact the Academy on 01709 513002.

Yours sincerely

Phil Davis
