Y6 Early Transfer

The new academic year 2018-19 commences at Wingfield Academy on Monday 9th July when our timetable for 2018-19 will be introduced to all students. Your child will join us from their primary school.

Monday 9th July will be a day of change and a fresh start for all; a day when students will meet their tutors; be allocated new teaching groups and meet their subject teachers who will provide them with their targets and new learning challenges for the forthcoming year.

For this reason the start to Monday 9th July will be staggered to ensure all students can be welcomed and settled efficiently.

The Academy will be open from 8am.

Your child will be expected to arrive at the Academy by 8:25am. They will be issued with; their planner and timetable; undertake a full tour of the Academy; learn how the Academy operates on a day-to-day basis and learn what the Academy expects of them.

Students in all other year groups will come into school at 10:15am. Where older students are accompanying younger siblings in Y7, or where parents wish their child to be in school at the normal time for childcare reasons – the Griffin (dining area) will be supervised and made available for their use.

We are looking forward to the new academic year and the opportunity for staff to begin the delivery of new courses, before the summer break. This will provide the opportunity for all students to reflect on their learning and progress of the past year and to set themselves new and ambitious goals for 2018-19.

We very much look forward to welcoming your child to Wingfield Academy and working in true partnership to help your child meet their full potential.
Please note that term ends on Friday 20th July and students will be dismissed from 1:30pm.

If you have any queries regarding the above please do not hesitate to contact the Academy on 01709 513002.

Yours sincerely

Year 7 Handball Final

Form A3 ran out winners of the Year 7 Handball Tournament put together by Mr Glover and Mr Winter, on Wednesday morning.

Runners up A2 recovered from an early deficit to level the scores up at 5-5 before the two sides traded goals with the scores level at 9-9 at the full time whistle.

Cheered on by ecstatic fans from both sides of the pitch, the match was high in quality and even higher in chances with either team looking likely to emerge as champions before the ‘next goal wins it’ scenario cropped up with A3, kitted in orange, peeling through the blue defence of A2 to take home the glory.

Year 10 Stelrad Radiators Visit (Thursday 3rd May)

A collection of our Year 10 students visited Stelrad Radiators in the first week of May as part of the Cutlers Program.

Y10 Students at Stelrad

The visit was designed to give students a better understanding of the manufacturing and engineering processes within the company, and judging by the picture below, they all had a great time.

We thank Stelrad for the fantastic opportunity.
