  • Closing Date:  12noon on Friday 31st January

Wingfield Academy working in partnership with New Collaborative Learning Trust is seeking to appoint an Assistant Headteacher who will be based at Wingfield Academy, with responsibility for English and literacy standards across the secondary arm of the Trust as it develops. This is a unique opportunity to impact on student outcomes, not only within Wingfield Academy in the first instance, but to co-ordinate and lead improvement across Trust secondary academies when they develop. The role will be underpinned by a passion to take a key role in developing literacy and reading as well as playing a significant role within the development of learning and teaching at Wingfield Academy.

The successful candidate will be experienced and will be able to demonstrate a strong track record of raising standards in English for the last 3 years. The successful candidate must be an excellent practitioner, able to lead by example, inspire others and have the experience of leading a team of people.

This is an exceptional opportunity and will support the aim of the Academy to develop its secondary school improvement offer. Wingfield Academy, where the role will be based, has delivered the third consecutive year of remarkable examination results, placing it once again as the second highest performing school in Rotherham and in the top 7% nationally for progress. The academy is growing in popularity following its success and is looking to expand and develop, attracting the best people to work alongside the already committed staff to continue their journey towards outstanding. It is anticipated that Wingfield Academy will be the first secondary school to join the highly successful post 16 MAT, New Collaborative Learning Trust at Easter 2020, and in doing so will lead the development of the secondary arm.

This is an extremely rare and exciting opportunity for the right candidate to take up a leading role at one of the highest performing schools in South Yorkshire, judged as a ‘Good’ school by Ofsted in 2017.

The Academy will offer:

  • A ‘child centred, progress focussed’ school ethos.
  • A school with a well-established culture of hard work and high expectations
  • A welcoming and supportive community
  • A cohort of students with high standards of behaviour and a willingness to learn.
  • The opportunity to work with a passionate and hardworking team of staff.
  • Opportunities to develop the skills and qualities to become a Headteacher in the future.
  • A commitment to support continued professional development through the teaching school alliance
  • A supportive loyal and committed Leadership team and Trust Board with a clear vision of raising standards of teaching and learning and positive behaviour.

If this sounds like a place for you then why not join our dynamic team as Assistant Headteacher and be part of the driving force to ensure we become outstanding and the number one choice for parents in the locality.

All applications must be on the Wingfield Academy application form. In your application you are invited to write a supporting statement of no more than two sides of A4 which outline how your knowledge, skills and experience meet the job description criteria.

Informal discussions about the role with the Headteacher and a visit to the Academy are warmly welcomed.  Please contact the Headteacher’s PA; Amanda Cook on 01709 513002

Applications should be emailed to office@wingfieldacademy.org
