Wingfield Academy Celebrates Double Triumph at Pearson National Teaching Awards

Wingfield Academy is thrilled to announce its exceptional achievement of winning two Pearson National Teaching ‘Silver’ Awards in the categories of ‘Making a Difference (Secondary School of the Year)’ and ‘Headteacher of the Year in a Secondary School’. These prestigious awards were announced during the National Thank a Teacher Day, making the occasion even more special for the entire school community.

Students at Wingfield Academy participated in the celebrations by writing thank you cards to staff members across the school, expressing their gratitude and appreciation for the dedication and hard work of their teachers and support staff.

Phil Davis, the Executive Headteacher of Wingfield Academy, was honoured with the award for ‘Headteacher of the Year in a Secondary School’. He received his award from Tony Agana, an ex-professional footballer who now works at the school, adding a personal touch to the occasion.

Phil Davis said, “Our staff and students are proud and feel humbled to be shortlisted for school of the year twice by two leading national organisations. It’s especially rewarding to know that the team is being recognized for the difference they make to children and their families in the local community. Wingfield Academy truly is a very special place.”

The Pearson National Teaching Awards celebrate excellence in education and are a testament to the hard work and dedication of teachers and school leaders across the country. Winning these awards highlights Wingfield Academy’s commitment to making a significant positive impact on its students and the wider community.

On top of this, Wingfield Academy has also been nominated for ‘Secondary School of the Year’ and Phil Davis for ‘Headteacher of the Year’ at the TES Awards 2024. The winners of these awards are announced on Friday 21 June.

Wingfield Academy would like to thank all its staff, students, and the local community for their ongoing support and dedication. The awards are a reflection of the collective effort and spirit that make the academy a beacon of excellence in education.
